Val is a Board-Certified, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). She believes in utilizing a conservative approach to treatment whenever possible, and she works closely with her clients to develop a treatment plan that is both effective and acceptable to her client. Val also believes that the mind and body work together to maintain health, therefore she encourages her clients to engage in holistic means of wellness involving complementary alternative therapies and self-care acts whenever possible.
While she was in nursing school, Val discovered her passion for psychiatry and began working on a hospital Behavioral Health unit as a student nurse extern. Shortly after receiving her bachelor’s degree in Nursing Science from Madonna University, Val transitioned to a Registered Nurse (RN). While continuing with her career as a psychiatric RN, Val went on to complete a master’s degree in Nursing Science from Wayne State University, with a specialty focus on Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Val specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and management of mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, mood disorders, ADHD and schizophrenia.
